A very happy 2022, to you.  I hope that your holidays were well spent in the company of family and friends. After all, nothing in life is more meaningful than the relationships we cultivate. I am grateful for life and I am grateful for another year. How about you? What I am most grateful for in this moment, is that I get to share my heart, my learning experiences, and most importantly, words of encouragement and inspiration with you, for yet another year.  I have faith that my words will reach you at the right time, just when you need it. I am here to inspire you towards growth and personal development, as well as to cheer you on, while you make this journey – called life. I look forward to sharing 2022 with you.

Doing Your Year in Review

Recently, I hosted a segment for my company’s year in review presentation. But, doing a year in review is not limited to just news houses or organizations. It can also apply to individuals. One of the activities I absolutely look forward to doing each year, is my year in review. I look forward to reviewing all the significant things that happened in my life during that year, even challenges I faced. I also review what did not go as well as I would have liked.  I consider what, if any adjustments I can make towards a better outcome, or maybe just what I learned from the experience.

Have you done your year in review as yet? Just in case you haven’t, and you are looking for a bit of inspiration, check out my article: A Successful Year Awaits You.  In it, I discuss the simple method I use for doing my year in review. Already did your year in review? That’s great! This may just be another method that you can explore, plus the article is still an enjoyable one.

Maybe 2021 did not go as well as you would have liked. Maybe you suffered loss or trauma or faced many challenges. Do not lose heart. Where there is life there is hope. “Weeping may endure for a night; but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5) I know sometimes it seems like your morning is taking forever to come, but don’t give up, it will come. Keep praying, keep fighting, keep working, keep pressing on.

I Can Do Hard Things and So Can You

For 2021, I added a new component to my year in review – hard things I did this year. The fact of the matter is, that as human beings, we are sometimes attacked by fear. There may be a particular thing we want to do but find it difficult to do so. Sometimes the difficulty is in the thing itself, but most times it’s not. Often the difficulty comes because we feel afraid, self-conscious or lack the confidence to do it.

One of the hard things I did in 2021, was to send an email to the CEO of a local newspaper asking if I can write an inspirational column for the paper, for free. This was not my first such attempt. At my first attempt, I visited the company’s website, got their email address and sent an email. I did not receive a response. This time, I called the office, spoke with the receptionist, told her why I was calling and enquired as to who I should direct my email to. She provided me with the information and I sent the email the same day. I still did not get a response. But I feel proud of myself for being brave and taking the leap.

“I can do hard things”, is a phrase that became one of my mantras throughout 2021. Any time I am facing a difficult decision, situation or something that makes me anxious or uncomfortable I remind myself that I can do hard things.

I challenge you to take the leap this year at some of those things that you have been wanting to do but find difficult; either because it is difficult in itself or because you are afraid. It may be as big as applying for a particular job or promotion or as simple as having a much needed but uncomfortable conversation with someone.  Remember this, “God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

Wrapping things up…

I really hope you are as excited about the new year as I am. I wish for you, peace, health and prosperity. May your blessings overflow and generosity abound in your heart. May you surpass all the goals you set for yourself. May you be constantly reminded that: you can do hard things.

“Get up… this is your responsibility… so be brave and do it.” (Ezra 10:4)

Passionate is one of the best words that describe me! I usually put my all into whatever I am doing. I have a strong desire to speak, write, and to inspire others. This is is one of my first steps in fulfilling that desire.
